It’s a stretch calling that a unicorn IMO.

That is a good price

Blue is always better. I do not care what they say elsewhere around here, blue is the best because it is insanely hard to look bad when it’s blue( the Youbian Puma looks best in blue).

The Youabian Puma looks best behind a building.

The outback in blue looks darn good IMO. A Youbian Puma doesn’t look good in any color but invisible.

I said best not good, I carefully chose that wording.

It does have an admirable trait, the owner had it made just because he could. But still hideous yeah.

That’s the only reason I like it. As Jay Leno as it sounds, I really appreciate one guy building his dream car, even if it does look like a hideously deformed off-roading bus.

That's a basic respect I wish more car enthusiasts would share with one another.

I always try to maintain respect, but it usually falls apart when people say the front of the Ferrari F50 is pretty.

Or when they say let stances people be they aren't doing anything wrong?

Ahh... I totally missed the meaning, makes more sense now.

Or if they say the late ‘90s Ford Taurus doesn’t look like a deformed alien that wouldn’t break down on the way out of the dealer.

Ugh, I have way to much experience there. The people that owned mine before me did not take care of it. For awhile, no joking here, I was lucky to go two weeks without a problem.

I am so glad that most Fords aren’t completely terrible anymore. The Fusion is a legitimately good car, even with its Aston ripoff grille, and the Fiesta is reportedly a blast to drive, even if it isn’t reliable.

To be honest when I go to buy a brand new car it will probably be a Fusion, Focus, or Impreza. But since I was little I have bled blue(I hate myself for saying that a little).

At the moment I would probably go for a Golf GTI, or a Civic Type R if I’m feeling really nuts. Or, if I need something small, a Scion iA, which is supposed to be extremely good to drive and extremely cheap.

I had to google what a Scion iA was. I reall have no clue what all is in the Scion lineup anymore.

It’s the iA, the iM (which just looks like a Japanese MG, so rather sad) and I think there’s a new tC but I’m not sure about that one.

I own that very car. Same year, same color, same transmission, same interior color, same options package by the looks of it. If it’s been as well maintained as it looks like it has (especially in terms of the oil changes) then it’s a steal for that kind of mileage. I did some rough numbers to estimate production on the 2008 OBXT (whose production numbers weren’t released) by basing it off how many were for sale used and comparing it to the number of ‘o5s for sale used (whose production numbers WERE released). Best guess, only about 2,500 2008 OBXTs built, with only about 700 of them in manual. Divide it by the available colors and this could be one of less than 100 blue manual ‘08 Outback XTs. Unicorn indeed.

Disagree. Check my response to Highlander about production numbers.

Sweet! I’m so jelly. We (my wife and I) have a 2013 manual OB. It’s kinda slow, but a very good driving car.

You can try to email Subaru about production numbers.

I emailed Audi and they gave me production numbers for my A6. Less than 100 were made in the color combo/trim/transmission that mine is.

I tried, as have a number of other XT owners. I even tried using my contacts at Subaru. No luck.

Kinja'd!!!0

Huh, strange how they didn’t really keep track.

I used to see one in that exact trim with manual transmission, driven by some lady who didn’t really know how to drive manual transmission.

Kinja'd!!! Dusty Ventures > jkm7680

But from what is known about the production run decrease from 05-09 I’d say I’m highly confident I’m ±25% of the actual numbers. So 1,900-3,200 2008 models built with 500-900 of them manuals, and 70-150 of those in blue. Unicorn.

Any idea if it was an 08-09 or an 05-07? You can tell by the front end (refreshed in 08). They made a relative crapton of XTs in 2005 with 11,750 built. Even then when you took the MT models (3,444 of the 11,750) and broke them down by color and trim you were looking at a one-of-475 car at the most. And by 2008 XT production was reported to be less than a quarter of it’s 2005 peak.

I honestly can’t remember. Had those same wheels and was in that same blue color. Reason I know it was a manual is because every day, she would burn the hell out of the clutch at this one stop sign that’s at the top of a hill.

Kinja'd!!! Dusty Ventures > jkm7680

Had to be an 08 or 09 then, the wheels were new for 2008. I feel bad for that clutch, they wore out easily even without encouragement like that.

Yup, she didn’t look like an enthusiast to me. Who knows though......

Nice looking cars though, I’d only want to have one in black or WR blue.

Don’t get me started on WRB. It drives me nuts that the car wasn’t sold in WRB. ALL turbo Subarus should be available in WRB.

The OBXT suits both my needs (cargo space for a week+ of camping/racing/cross-country driving, winter capability, softroad/offroad, comfortable for 6+ hours) and wants (quick, fun, not a crossover/SUV, at least 20 mpg, manual) and so far I haven’t found anything built since that ticks all those boxes, so I want to hold onto mine for a long time (or replace it someday with a lower mileage model. Ideally from outside the salt belt, but apparently absolutely nobody bought one down there). Near the top of my long term mods list is tinting the windows, sticking in an FA20T and six speed, and painting it World Rally Blue.

WRB is literally the best. If I were to own a WRX, it would have to be WRB unless I’d be getting a wonderful deal.

But honestly if I were shopping in that segment, I’d probably end up with an Allroad. Because Twin Turbo, adjustable air suspension and rubber bumpers.

Kinja'd!!! Dusty Ventures > jkm7680

Kinja'd!!!1

An Allroad would be pretty great, but I can neither afford to purchase nor maintain one of those lol. Also I’ve had bad experiences with air suspension, and question how it would handle rally stages and ATV trails.

Kinja'd!!!1

The Allroad completed the Land Rover course, so I’d imagine they wouldn’t be bad.

I still want one, but settled with an A6 with the twin turbo V6 instead.
